Miniature Schnauzers are really great family dogs. They are affectionate and due to their size fit well in one's lap! However, if you don't want them to be lap dogs, don't start that way! They need lots of loving discipline or they will rule the roost, but with good loving training they are obedient and happy.
Our relationship with Miniature Schnauzers began with Poppy (Amy off Soerander's Home). Poppy turned up on 11th January 2009. The first time I saw her it was love at first sight. Right form the start she was a real family dog and although we had never had a lap dog, she taught us how to live with one! She was only two and a half when she died of blood poisoning, she had successfully completed obedience classes and we were doing agility classes with her. Being an intelligent dog, she thought that hurdles were for running under instead of jumping! She loved the whole family, but was wary of strangers.
